Chocolate and pretzels….they JUST go together, like peas and carrots, peanut butter and jelly. I always try to find new ideas to bring to the farmer’s market and especially those that will include my son Jonathan so he can make an extra couple bucks.
We decided to have an afternoon on dipping pretzels in decadent toppings. Melted dark chocolate, semisweet chocolate, white chocolate and caramel. OK so the caramels..sigh…were in the package kind that you have to unwrap and ahem, they do contain corn syrup. BUT in my defense, it was much easier than making my own for this project. 😀 Plus the kid loves them!
***Just a helpful hint when melting chocolates. I find it is way easier to melt the white chocolate in a bowl over simmering water, no need to add oil or butter. This makes for a smooth and creamy chocolate. As for the regular chocolate you can do it the same but add a bit of butter or coconut oil as I did. Like a spoonful or so! To make it even easier, I microwaved the dark and semisweet in 30-40 second increments, stirring in between and JUST when it looks almost melted – it is done. Don’t heat further unless you HAVE too.
With all the sticky toppings we crunched up peppermints, red hots or cinnamon candies whatever they are called, graham crackers, nuts, sliced mini marshmallows and got out the peanut butter and sea salt. Is your mouth watering yet???
In total we made 24 pretzels – Peppermint Bark, Red Hot Momma’s, Sea Salted Chocolate Caramel, Snickers, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Triple Chocolate, Chocolate Caramel and I think that was all?!?!
How many do you think will be left for market tomorrow – taking guesses. 🙂
Have a great night! Stay warm peeps 😀
