Saving At The Grocery Store

Continuing from my last post, I wanted to show you my savings and purchases from the other stores for my groceries last week. I do try and keep my budget at $100-120 for the week, including food, household cleaners, paper products, pet foods and alcohol. Some weeks I come under budget and some alittle over. My goal is to get under $100 every week! I see posts all the time with ” I only spend $40 or $50 a week to feed my family” and yes it can be done! My budget includes all things purchased for the week and not just food so it looks alittle more realistic.

My shopping day usually takes a couple hours and I stop at 2-4 stores depending on sales and my time alloted. Last week I did the 5 for $5 from Earthfare plus spend $30 at Publix, $26 at Aldi’s and $7 at Quality Foods for meat. Dog and cat food another $16.

Use coupons and shop the buy one get one free sales at Publix for maximum savings, especially this time of year! If you are a baker then all the stores have baking supplies on sale right now so match with coupons by checking out http://www.couponmom.com

Here is what I got:

Lots of baking supplies, fresh and frozen veggies, soda(that the guys can’t live without), paper towels, nuts, cheese, and lots of Hall’s cough drops…OK so these are like .12 after the buy one get one free, going on now AND they have coupons attached to the product in some stores for .55 off making it .12 each!

At Aldi’s I got juice, half and half, cheese, lots of fresh produce and a pork tenderloin. Good week and as you can see it is fresh, good stuff that I am buying not over processed box/frozen junk.
Happy Shopping!
